HIGHFIELD FEST 2017

Sunday 25th June 2017

Prudhoe Town Council has organised and funded Highfield Fest for 7 years and each year we say ‘This is going to be the best yet!’  We said it again, and it was!

Have a look at the photographs uploaded to the Hexham Courant gallery, these will keep you going till we get all of the photographs taken by Moira Wooldridge (Community Photographer), those taken by Dan Bell and by Oliver Martin of Team Override (including drone footage).

NBK Leisure ran a dedicated ‘Toddler Zone’ with ball pool, soft play and bouncy castle, and Turners Fun Fair brought along their tea cups ride which kept all the little people entertained and some of the bigger ones too!

We tried out a ticket system for the ever popular facepainting by Julie to avoid long queues, it did work to some extent but maybe requires a little extra thought or maybe another face painter.  Julie’s Painted Faces worked non-stop for 6 hours and hopefully most of those who wanted a tattoo or their face painted got it done before they had to leave.

Prudhoe Youth Football Club brought football challenges to Highfield Park with some super results on fastest goal and target goal.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed having a go, and Duncan Graham has forwarded the results which are detailed below.

Speed Goal:
Under 7s - Olly Newton 33 mph
Age 8-10 - Thomas Storey 48 mph
Age 11-15 - Emily Bloomer 51 mph
Age 16+ - George Honeyman 65 mph

Target Goal:
Under 7s - Jacob Snowdon 8 points
Age 8-10 - Jago Mullarkey 15 points
Age 11-15 - Jake Cuthbert 15 points and Emily Bloomer 15 points

Sadly as 1st Prudhoe Scouts were not able to attend with their archery course due to the strong wind, but they will have an alternative planned next year.  Hammer throwing was suggested but I am not sure if that was a joke!

1st Prudhoe Guides got creative and crafty with home-made catapults and a jam jar s'mores roasting.  The had the most beautiful tent set up, very welcoming and with a certain touch of vintage about it!

Our Fest has to have a little bit of ‘street’ and lots of ‘cool’ and we certainly got that from Annesha’s School of Dance.  Dancing on the grass made no difference to their slick moves and a great crowd cheered them on throughout.

John Craggs our neighbourhood graffiti artist, in the best way possible, was supported by Prudhoe Youth Charity Shop to work with the young people to create their own graffiti art boards.  It was a great attraction to the event and lots of young people left happy with a graffiti named board to adorn their bedroom wall.

As well as the toddler zone, NBK Leisure brought their brand new Hungry Hippos and Total Wipeout.  Total Wipeout was great to watch as was the Demolition Zone, which for the 3rd year in a row was been sponsored by Thompson’s of Prudhoe.

Wheels returned with vengeance last year thanks to Team Override and Reiver Sports.  This year there was an even bigger buzz as the prizes were amazing.
