Generous Grant Aid awards to a host of Community Groups
Community Groups and charities who are able to continue to work, in spite of the current climate, have been supported financially by Prudhoe Town Council.
The Town Council usually receives between 35 and 40 Grant Aid applications. Sadly, almost half of the groups who applied in March have had their great work suspended, or they are in a hiatus. In a demonstration of the solidarity and community feeling among our longstanding recipients of Grant Aid, when they wrote to the Council to withdraw their own requests, they expressed hope that funding be made available to those groups still able to provide a service.
The Town Council appreciated the sentiment and responded by agreeing funding that included money committed in both the Grant Aid and Youth Provision budgets, to support the growing number of applications from this sector.
In 2020/21, Prudhoe Town Council has agreed funding of almost £75,000 to our community groups and local charities.
The Town Council was pleased to support some amazing groups during the initial lockdown, which you can still read about in our news section on this website.
