Roundabouts and Gateways

Roundabouts and Gateways

Prudhoe Town Council maintain both roundabouts in the town and also what we describe as the town gateways.

The eastern gateway is on the approach from Newcastle on the B6395, with a town sign – ‘Welcome to Prudhoe’ and a ‘Silent Soldier’ to mark the 100 years anniversary of Armistice.

If you enter the town from Newcastle, via the by-pass, staying on the A695, as well as the roundabout that is maintained by the council, there is also a Miner’s Tub and a further ‘Silent Soldier’.

Travelling from Hexham, there is a gateway into Mickley, that is clearly marked and another ‘Silent Soldier’ and further east you arrive at the western gateway.  On your approach from the A695 there is a very well-established area of shrubs and roses on the right and as you turn off the A695 another ‘Welcome to Prudhoe’ town sign, ‘Silent Soldier’ and also a stone seat that was designed by the volunteer Prudhoe Groundforce Group.
