South Road Public Toilets Remain Closed

South Road public toilets (also known as the Road Ends toilets) will remain closed to the public.  Re-opening will be reconsidered by Prudhoe Town Council on Wednesday 9th September, at the meeting of the Planning, Contract and Works Committee.

A risk assessment has been carried out which is available on the Council’s website, click HERE.  The Council agreed to implement several control measures, which include installing no-touch taps, automatic flushing systems, and no-touch soap dispensers.  We will also ensure external doors can be propped open, add an additional mid-day clean and display the necessary instructional signage.

Prudhoe Town Council is committed to the provision of public toilets in the town, demonstrated by our willingness to take these over from Northumberland County Council in August 2017, when closure was a very real threat.  Whilst members are sympathetic to the absence of a public facility at this time, with both Waterworld and Prudhoe Library remaining closed, hospitality venues are now open, and patrons can use these facilities safely.

Please be assured that Prudhoe Town Council will re-open our public toilets, when it is considered safe to do so, but not before Wednesday 9th September.
