Highfield Fest returned in style on Saturday, 30 May 2026, bringing the community together for a vibrant fantastic fun-filled day in the sunshine. Families and visitors of all ages came out in force to enjoy the festivities, proving once again Prudhoe’s community spirit.
The event remained busy throughout the day, with a variety of activities and entertainment to suit all ages and interests. Prudhoe Youth Project provided a host of family-friendly activities, while Prudhoe Community Partnership promoted their valuable work within the town.
A highlight for many was the ever-popular Julie Charlton of Painted Faces by Julie, who was met with a steady queue from 11am until 4.15pm. A talented artist and loyal supporter of the event, continuing to be a favourite with children and parents alike.
Local stallholders contributed to the community atmosphere, offering a diverse range of products and activities. These included a football memorabilia stall featuring an extensive selection of collectible cards. New additions for this year’s event included a tombola, alongside stall showcasing handcrafted jewellery and innovative 3D-printed products, providing visitors with greater variety of attractions to enjoy.
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service proved a popular attraction throughout the day, giving young visitors the opportunity to explore a fire engine and learn more about the vital work of the service. While Salus Medical Services gave children the exciting opportunity to explore an ambulance and learn about emergency response.
Once again, we saw the return of Team Extreme, who travelled to deliver high-energy demonstrations and competitions at the skatepark, including scooter, skateboard, and BMX stunts. Doug and the team are incredible! The exceptional talent displayed by the young participants was both inspiring and exhilarating, with many spectators watching in awe as competitors executed a range of challenging and daring tricks throughout the day.
Mayor Councillor Dot Dickinson, attended the event throughout the day, warmly engaging with residents and presenting prizes to the winners of the skatepark competition. She expressed her pride in highlighting not only the excellent skatepark facilities but also the wider community amenities available at Highfield Park, which continues to provide a welcoming, inclusive, and valuable space for residents of all ages.
Providing entertainment throughout the day, Carnival Fun Fairs proved a popular attraction with visitors of all ages. Their traditional fairground favourites, including the funhouse attraction, shuggy boats, and spinning teacups, brought a sense of nostalgia and excitement to the event, delighting both children and adults alike.
Adding to the fun, Bounce ‘n’ Slide once again delivered a range of inflatable attractions that remained a firm favourite with younger visitors. The colourful inflatables were in constant use throughout the day, with children eagerly queuing for the opportunity to climb, slide, and play with friends. Together, these attractions helped create a vibrant festival atmosphere, ensuring there was plenty of family-friendly entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
This year’s programme also featured performances by the Elaine Pygall School of Dancing, with both the Early Years and Company dancers showcasing their talents and entertaining the crowds throughout the event.
A diverse selection of food vendors proved extremely popular, with visitors enjoying offerings from Unique Catering, The Dough Box/Brew Box, Baked Jacket Spuds, Little Shanghainese, and Mr Whippy Ice Cream.
