Our New Mayor 2024-2025
Introducing Cllr Angie Scott as the new Prudhoe Mayor and Chair of Prudhoe Town Council, elected at the Annual Meeting held 23rd May 2024.
Angie has served as a Councillor with Prudhoe Town Council for several years, having lived in Prudhoe her entire life, and having brought up her family in the town felt the time was right to take the helm. Over the years Angie has worked with local charities and groups. She also represents Prudhoe Town Council on Prudhoe Youth Project, which provides a range of inclusive activities for young people within the town. Angie has worked for the NHS for over twenty years, now as a Registered Nurse Associate; caring for and supporting people has always been her focus.
Angie is proud of her hometown and looks forward to supporting the people of Prudhoe, as she has done as a ward Councillor for West Wylam, and County Councillor for Prudhoe North and now also as Mayor.
As Mayor, Angie hopes the Town Council can continue to make a difference for our community, not only supporting residents but also Front Street traders and businesses throughout the town.
Cllr Duncan Couchman was elected Vice-Chair of the Council and will support Angie in her role as Chair/Mayor. As a newly elected Mayor the support of council colleagues is paramount, and members of Prudhoe Town Council are keen to work together for the benefit of the town.
Outgoing Mayor Cllr Bryan Futers said he had been honoured to serve the people of Prudhoe as Mayor since 2021 and wished Cllr Angie Scott the best of luck, hoping she enjoys the role as much as he did. Cllr Futers was sure the Mayoral Chain was in very safe and capable hands, a sentiment expressed by council colleagues.
Cllr Angie Scott will attend her first official engagement at the relaunch of Highfield Fest, which this year includes the official opening of Highfield Skatepark on Saturday 1st June 2024.
