Prudhoe Remembers

 “When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.”

Blue skies and the sun shone for Prudhoe’s Remembrance Parade.  Prudhoe Town Council would like to thank all those who took part as well as those who gathered to watch the Parade led by North Tyneside Pipe Band from the Legion Car Park to Front Street, along to Lychgate War Memorial at St Mary Magdalene Church.  To commemorate those who have fallen.

The Church Service followed the laying of the wreaths, the first wreath was laid on behalf of His Majesty the King, representing the Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, Deputy Lieutenant Rodrica Straker, followed by Cllr Bryan Futers, Mayor of Prudhoe on behalf of The People of Prudhoe.

Wreaths were also laid on behalf of The Royal British Legion Prudhoe and District Men’s and Women Section, MP for Hexham and Prudhoe, The Royal Navy, The Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps, The Merchant Navy and Maritime Navy, 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, Special Air Service, Burma Star Recipients, The Royal Air Force, in memory of Derek Armstrong killed in the Falklands War, 1982,  in memory of Kevin Lynch killed in the Gulf War, 1991, Prudhoe Veterans, The North Tyneside Pipe Band, Northumbria Police, Northumberland Fire and Rescue, Prudhoe Detachment, Northumbria Army Cadet Force, 1248 (Prudhoe) Squadron, Royal Air Force Cadets, 1st Prudhoe Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, Tynedale Girlguiding, 1st Prudhoe Brownies, Rainbows, and Guides, Prudhoe Co-op members, Prudhoe Social Club, Prudhoe United Services Club, Prudhoe Castle Bowling and Dragon Tale Theatre Group.

New additions this year included North East Ambulance Service, and Councillor Tracy Gilmore laid a wreath on behalf of the animals.
