Due to the resignation of Councillor Mike Smith a vacancy for the ward has now officially been declared.

In accordance with the Local Government Act 1972, the Council has advertised the vacancy and notified Northumberland County Council Election Office, and 14 days is allowed for 10 electors from West Wylam Ward to request an election to fill the vacancy. If no request is received by Friday 21st August 2026, the vacancy will be filled by co-option within a reasonable period.
