Christmas Lights Switch-On – Friday 26th November 2021
Not long now…
Almost everything is in place for the Christmas Lights Switch-On 2021. Everyone really looks forward to the lights displays and this year more than ever, as we could not celebrate in quite the same way in 2020.
This years Christmas Lights switch-on brings you all the usual favourites to look forward to and in a break from tradition, we can enjoy half an hour of music, games and dancing under the lights, after they have been switched on at 6:00pm.
Usually the lights come on, the road opens and everyone goes home… cold but festive!
This year, we want you to enjoy the lights with some festive fun still to be had, and with the safety of the road closure still in place. So the countdown will begin just before 6:00pm, and we’ll have until 6:30pm when the event will close and the road will reopen.
Prudhoe Community Partnership will open their grotto, with the help of the Mid-Tyne Lions, and Community/Charity stalls from 3:00pm, adjacent to the new Prudhoe Community Hub.
Prudhoe Patchers
Mister Disco Man will open our event at 5:00pm. The wonderful Co-op staff will be serving ‘free’ mulled wine and mince pies. Prudhoe Guides are bringing along some Christmas Crafts and will also be selling hotdogs and drinks.
Prudhoe Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets will be on-site helping to keep everyone safe, and First Aid will be provided by Rapid Reaction NE Ltd.
We have some special friends coming back to help us switch-on the lights, as well as joining Mister Disco Man on stage to help get you into the Christmas spirit – best singing voices needed!
We look forward to seeing you all there!
Please also remember that West Wylam Shopping Precinct are organising an event on the following Friday 3rd December, with stalls and school choir, and the switching on of the new Christmas Lights.
