
Introducing the New Mayor of Prudhoe 2025-2026
Prudhoe Town Council is pleased to introduce Cllr Jonathan Wheeler as the newly elected Mayor of Prudhoe and Chair of Prudhoe Town Council, following his election at the Annual Meeting held on Thursday, 15th May 2025.
Cllr Wheeler has served on Prudhoe Town Council since 2021 and brings with him a strong commitment to the local community. A proud resident of Prudhoe, he looks forward to continuing his service to the town, as he has done previously as a ward councillor for Castle and Eltringham, and Chair of the Cemetery and War Memorial Committee and now in his new role as Mayor.
Cllr Wheeler said, “In my term as Mayor I am keen for the Town Council to remain a positive force for the community, supporting not only residents but also the traders and businesses on Front Street and across the wider town.”
Cllr Dot Dickinson was elected Vice-Chair of the Council and will support Cllr Wheeler in his role as Chair and Mayor. As a newly appointed Mayor, the support of Council colleagues is invaluable, and members of Prudhoe Town Council have expressed their collective enthusiasm to work together for the benefit of the town.

Outgoing Mayor, Cllr Angie Scott, expressed how honoured she had been to serve as Mayor for the 2024–2025 term. She wished Cllr Wheeler every success in his new role, expressing confidence that the Mayoral Chain had passed into safe and capable hand; a sentiment shared by fellow councillors.
Cllr Wheeler will carry out his first official engagement as Mayor at Highfield Fest, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 31st May 2025.
