A blank CANVAS to create a concrete dream for Highfield Park Skatepark

Although we do not yet know how and when restrictions will ease, there is a growing desire to plan and be positive about the future.

We have something to shout about…

Early summer will see the realisation of a £180k concrete Skatepark at Highfield Park, something the young people of the town have dreamed of for several years.

In January 2019, Prudhoe Town Council committed funding towards the redevelopment of the skatepark.  In January 2021, the remaining funds required were committed.  Hot on the heels of the budget meeting was the evaluation of tenders, making dreams a reality.

Prudhoe Town Council is extremely excited about their future partnership with CANVAS SPACES.  CANVAS has a dynamic and collaborative design and build team who are behind some of the most critically acclaimed skateparks in use today.  There were many added value elements to their tender, but primarily their focus on consultation throughout the project was a key winner, alongside the amazing projects they have worked on.

The Council already has a small user group set up and is keen to develop this further alongside CANVAS.  Current and prospective users and interested parties will be able to access our own personal info-hub.  This online communication tool is integral to the design process and follows a ‘consult – design – revise’ model.  With the current Covid-19 situation this tool is especially useful, taking advantage of its 24hr access and ease of communication and discussion without the need for face-to-face meetings.

Make sure you follow Prudhoe Town Council and CANVAS Skateparks and Public Spaces on Facebook and look out for further information as it is released.
