Prudhoe Remembers

Remembrance Parade 2024

Prudhoe witnessed an exceptional turnout this year in tribute to those who have given their lives in service. The 2024 Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service took place on Sunday, 10th November, as the town gathered in a united show of respect and remembrance.

The parade began at the Royal British Legion car park, led by Parade Marshal Councillor Chris Barrett. With solemn dignity, uniformed services and community organisations joined the North Tyneside Pipe Band to march along Front Street to Kepwell Court and onward to the Lychgate War Memorial at St. Mary Magdalene Church.

The service commenced at 10.55am with the Act of Remembrance at 11am and wreath-laying.

After the service, members of the uniformed services, local organizations, and residents joined in procession as the parade returned to the Legion. Along the way, they presented a traditional ‘eyes right’ salute to dignitaries, including Deputy Lieutenant Julian Morrison-Bell, representing the Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland, Mayor Councillor Angie Scott, and Reverend Dan Freyhan.

Mayor Councillor Angie Scott expressed her profound honour in laying a wreath on behalf of the people of Prudhoe, paying tribute to those who have fallen and acknowledging those who continue to serve.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in organising this solemn event, as well as to all those who participated, and the residents and visitors who showed their support by joining us to honour and remember the fallen.
