UNAUDITED ACCOUNTS 2025/26 – ANNUAL GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY

As the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) of Prudhoe Town Council, I am pleased to announce the conclusion of our financial year and the approval of our end-of-year finances at last night’s council meeting (Thursday 25 June 2026.) Our council has diligently adhered to the Accounts and Audit Regulations, ensuring that our financial affairs are properly administered and aligned with legal standards. This commitment to good governance, accountability, and transparency is fundamental to our mission of providing efficient and effective public services to our community. Our Annual Governance and Accountability Return, for year ending March 2026 will be sent to the external auditor, and will include:

  • Annual Internal Audit Report 2025/2026.
  • Section 1 – Annual Governance Statement 2025/2026.
  • Section 2 – Accounting Statements 20252026/ includes explanation for Assertion 10
  • Assertion 9 – Explanation for variance in Fixed Assets
  • Bank Reconciliation: A statement showing all bank and building society account balances as of 31st March 2026.
  • Variance Explanation: A full explanation with figures of all significant variances in income or expenditure in 2025/2026 compared to the previous financial year.
  • A reconciliation between the closing balances in the Section 2, Box 7 & 8 as accounts are prepared on an income and expenditure basis.
  • Breakdown of types of reserves held between general reserves, earmarked reserves and restricted (ring fenced)
  • Contact Details: Confirmation of current contact information for the Clerk, RFO (if different), and Chair.
  • Details of action taken in respect of all recommendations made by external auditor in 2025/2026.

We invite Prudhoe and Mickley residents to exercise their right to inspect the Council’s accounts during the designated period Monday 29th June 2026 and ending on Friday 7th August 2026.
