Prudhoe Young People Celebrate Paris Olympic Games 2024 in Mitry Mory

In a vibrant celebration of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the twinned town of Mitry Mory hosted five young residents from Prudhoe from July 22 to July 25, 2024. This exciting exchange offered an enriching experience for the participants, who stayed with local host families and engaged in a diverse array of activities throughout the week.

The Prudhoe Dolphins members—Phoebe Juniper, Katie Melville, Ellen Maxwell, Daniel Hall, and Finlay Haygarth—were accompanied by their Swim Coach and Town Councillor, Jane Johnson. The program included various activities such as sports, cultural visits, art sessions, and a trip to the beach.

A standout moment of the visit was attending the Olympic Women’s Rugby Sevens at Stade de France, which served as a highlight of their Olympic experience. Councillor Jane Johnson remarked “Being part of the opening ceremony was incredible and there was such a great atmosphere in the stadium.”

“This exchange was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to immerse themselves in the spirit of the Paris Olympics,” said Councillor Jane Johnson. “The experiences they gained and the friendships they forged will undoubtedly have a lasting impact. We are grateful to Mitry Mory for their warm hospitality and for providing such a memorable week.”
